We are all concerned about climate change, so we got together for conversations about what it means to us and the place where we live. We are fortunate to have an organization that is active in the climate change arena, the Ward3 Democratic National Committee. Neighbors that belong to that organization sat down with us to tell us what they are doing to fight climate change right in DC.
Weaving the theme and the Quander Family’s history into a unit, Judge Rohulamin Quander discusses his family’s African American labor-related history from the 1680s in Maryland and Virginia, including involuntary service to President George Washington. He also discusses the many achievements of the family’s compensated service in many areas, including the military, education, religion, social action, and women’s rights.

Mary Belcher is an artist, writer, and longtime resident of the Adams Morgan neighborhood, where she has worked with anthropologists and community activists since 2005 to preserve the African American and Quaker cemeteries at Walter Pierce Park.
