The Village Green

Glover Park Village Green was launched in 2019 by Glover Park Village members and friends.

At that inaugural event, climate change fighter Council member Mary Cheh gave us an overview of actions the District of Columbia was taking to address climate change issues. She mentioned The Clean Energy Act, electric buses, greener buildings, renewable energy through Pepco, reduction of waste, composting, lead pipe replacement, and several other projects in play.

Many changes have happened since that auspicious beginning for Village Green. Climate change is roaring along, heedless of attempts to stop or slow it down.

In early 2022, we saw that the DC Council had reduced the budget for fighting climate change by $22 million. As Chris Weiss of the DC Environmental Network, said "this is a disaster for a city that looks at itself as a climate leader."

Our mission is to build awareness of climate change issues happening right here in our own backyard and to help provide tools to combat it.
