Glover Park Village has fostered aging in community since 2010

Our mission is to create intergenerational connections, to encourage neighbors to help neighbors, and to provide resources to our community. All of our services and events are free.

About Glover Park Village

Glover Park Village (GPV) is a a volunteer-based, non-profit organization serving adults who are aging in the community. We provide social and learning events, assistance, information, and opportunities to share talents and time.

Through our volunteer management model, we engage neighborhood residents, including older adults, to support one another in improving our services and access within the community and live fulfilling lives. Our participants are encouraged to contribute to village endeavors, to make new connections, and receive the support needed to continue to live in familiar surroundings.

We provide case management as well as social, educational, and wellness programming. Our social and learning events serve several of our purposes, building community, social engagement, brain health, and giving back. All of our activities, programs, and events are designed and coordinated by volunteers and are free and open to the public.

Fostering intergenerational relationships and aging in our community

Glover Park Village, Inc. endeavors to foster intergenerational connections that flourish, where neighbors help neighbors, and neighbors age with vibrancy and community connections.

GPV is managed by volunteers, one of three such villages in DC.  Though the DC Department of Aging and Community Living provides some support and resources for DC villages, for many years we were supported largely by community contributions.  Initially GPCA and ANC 3B provided financial support.  GPV has been largely supported by the community.

Services

Glover Park Village provides services through volunteers. We also have a part time Social Worker whom we share with other DC villages. To receive services, people first need to register with us. To start the free registration process or to request services, call us at 202-436-5545 or fill out the service request form.

Volunteers

There are multiple ways to support the village such as arranging events, giving a class, performance, or lecture, as well providing transportation, companionship, or running errands. We also need office help with publicity, database management, website, making calls, fund raising, and grants management. The volunteer process includes a background check which is common practice with villages.  Sign up to here volunteer!

Service Area

GPV serves Glover Park, Cathedral Heights, the Naval Observatory, Massachusetts Heights and the south side of Massachusetts Avenue from Glover Archibald Park on the north to the Italian Embassy on the south.  Occasionally people from other nearby communities decide to participate in GPV activities.
